Hello all, I'm new to the forum and looking for advice. I've been searching and reading through lots of threads for the last week...so I apologize for starting a thread that has been brought up several times over, but haven't really found a whole lot of threads with information tailored to my specific area.
Due to my current job situation and other factors in my life, I'm pretty much tied to needing to attend a CDL school that is provided by a company. I realize being tied to an employment contract is not ideal but my situation is what it is.
I'm obviously new to the trucking world and am wanting to make a career change at 35. I've always wanted to drive trucks since I can remember as my grandfather drove for a living.
What are my options with companies who will provide CDL classes while living in Baton Rouge? I'm not tied to regional or dedicated runs as I'm more than willing to do OTR. I can travel for the CDL school but am wanting to be realistic with where I live. Thank you.

KLLM Transport hires Baton Rouge/New Orleans students for their school in Mississippi.

FFE (Frozen Food Express) is a good choice.
www.ffeinc.com
This company is owned by KLLM Transport. I'd try for FFE as a first choice and KLLM as second choice. They both train at the same school.
Unlike other truck driving schools, our Academy is a part of FFE Transportation Services Inc., a growing 60+ year old leader in temperature-controlled trucking. This means we are able to offer you a guaranteed truck driver position upon graduation* and also a real-world education in truck driving that might not be available through general truck driving schools.
- Tuition-free schooling*
- Fully licensed and accredited education for you to obtain your Commercial Drivers
License (CDL-A) - Accelerated 18-day program
- Cost-free comfortable housing at our Academy
- Cost-free transportation to our Academy

CFI - www.cfidrive.com is also good.
Company-paid Tuition
With a 12-month commitment to drive for CFI, qualified students can now receive fully paid tuition to attend driving school in Missouri. We’ll even cover your room and board for the duration of the four-week course. Transportation provided from your home to the school.

KLLM, FFE, CFI all do hair follicle drug test.
Stevens Transport does urine test, but sometimes does a random hair follicle drug test.
www.stevenstransport.com
Stevens pays for private cdl school. Can apply online at Stevens Transport website.
