what about [FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]the United Truck Driving School? the number should be in the phone book or you can look them up on the web. Now as to weather or not they are a good school I can not say for I have not
attended a school as of yet. I need to find funding first.

I attended United and recemmend them over others in the area. I attended the Riverside school earlier in the year. They have schools in San Diego, Santa Ana, Riverside and in Temecula.
The school is 160 hours and you can go part time or full time (I did this) with 80 hours in the classroom and 80 hours in the yard/on the road. I came out and recieved offers from every company I applied with.
The cons:
Expensive - 4,300
Learning materials are old (VCR tapes?!)
Facilities are lacking. I can't speak for the other locations but the yard in Riverside is hot and dusty with zero cover or shade. There is also no water or anything close by to get relief.
The pros:
Great instructors - In the classroom and in the yard. All instructors were drivers from all walks of the industry and great people besides.
Job Placement (see above)
Close by to where ever you are.
I walked out a driver with all endorsements with ease after one month. I watched students from other schools failing multiple times at the testing yard in San Berdoo. I'm not being partial either, they didn't know what they were doing...
HTH whoever finds this postWarpdrvr and telcobilly Thank this. -
I just passed my pre-trip and COLA/P today. The other school in this area is Western and my instructor knew the other instructor and from what I could tell even though they are from competing schools they have a professionalism and level of respect for what each of them are doing to train us that it left me with a good feeling over an above simpling passing the pre-trip portion.scottccal Thanks this. -
I start at the Temecula location on 10-13-08 with the yard section being up in Riverside. Good to hear the positive comments..I'll make sure I have a waterjug when I'm in Riverside lol

I went to United in the Temcula office and I freekin loved it. its 2 weeks there and then 2 weeks at the yard in riverside. I looked at a couple of others schools and bar none, united is the best in my opion. telcobill was in my class and i NO he feels that same way I do. we couldnt have asked for a better instructor than the one we got (cathy). if you go, try and find where and when she is teaching, you will not be dissappointed.
as for what super10 is saying bout the other schools and watching them at the DMV, he is 100% correct. it was sad and funny at the same time watching this go on. they had no clue what there were doing. just go and watch, you be able to tell what school is up to par. Only united was. i was proud to go there and even more proud to show people at the DMV what and how you should be taught. you are representing the school there when you are testing. you will do good cause yiu were taught good. anybody who went there, no's what I mean. the only bad thing was no shade at the yard. they have a ez-up and plus you could always bring one frm home. guess thats it.Warpdrvr Thanks this. -
I know this is resureccting an old thread, but it is relevant to me. I have been researching schools in the Orange County area of SoCal, and this one stood out to me. I'm glad I've heard good things about them, as they seem to be the way to go. They have been in business training drivers for 30 years the guy I spoke with said. His name is Ken and he's at the Santa Ana office. He spent a lot of time with me just this morning answering every question I had. One thing I want to note is stay away from Advance School of Driving in Fontana, they are a CDL mill. 3 days in class, then out on the road!! YIKES!! Then they place you directly with CRST for 28 days with a trainer....
I think I am going to go with United after what I've found out in my research. I'm going for the "whole enchilada", which includes the passenger endorsement, so I can drive busses if need be until I get a job with a trucking company. Hopefully I can start in 3 weeks....Last edited: Oct 20, 2009
kickin chicken Thanks this. -
Been almost a year since I graduated from United and I still feel the same about them.Yzfster and I stay in contact and we have had some great opportunities since leaving them.
My first DM said myself and another graduate of United were the best drivers she had. My current o/o boss was really bummed when I resigned to go to the same co yzfster is at. This isn't to brag but to state how well they train you.kickin chicken Thanks this. -
