I did my training with mega trucking company. It was better training then I thought reading some of the stuff I see today.

 

I’m surprised people are not told about the tricks I was told about. Like shifting a manual transmission at very low rpms when starting from a stop to avoid grinding gears. How to take a left or right turn in city traffic. There are many little tricks to learning how driver and people were not told them or they forgot.

Maybe I got luck at training at the mega carrier back in the day. We tried to stump the trainers with hard questions. Nobody could, the trainers has answer for everything.

 

If you're near Greenville/Spartanburg, I'd look into SBL Truck Driving Academy in Greer. They're at the Heniff terminal, and when that terminal was Superior Carriers' it was Superior's training center. Based on that alone, I'd bet their CDL training is top notch. And if you can get hired at Heniff right out of school, you'd be skipping some of the dues-paying most new drivers have to do for their first couple of years.
