This really isn't a question. More of just passing info along. I'm about to start driving school with Millis Transfer in 2 weeks. got the call and paid the initial $100 today. I have done everything except get my CDL permit. I've been studying pretty steady and went searching tonight for alternatives and I found an app for android called CDL Practice app. Its put out by trucking truth.com and its free. it has a series of randomly generated CDL quizzes along with test tips and quotes from the CDL manual. I'M really getting a lot out of it. gonna try for my permit tomorrow and I'll continue to use it until I get my CDL. hope it helps someone.

Good luck on your school start and your permit test tomorrow! That's a nice app reference too- even for brushing up after you get your permit.

Just aced the cdl permit exam. Only one more obstacle and that is getting some appointments moved around for my son until I finish classroom and yard time. I'm almost able to change the wannabe title to a Student.

Congrats Steve!!
For others keep in mind there are a bunch of practice tests on the web. Many are made up by the author. Though they are good for learning the manual doesn't necessarily mean they are on the test. Most states get their CDL manuals from JJ Keller. Though there are many minor changes there is a lot of similarities from state to state. JJ Keller supplies most the literature and forms for the trucking industry.
Every CDL test I've took in two states most of the questions were very similar to the one's in the manual at the end of each chapter. I would say a good 80%. So learn them questions and expand from there. I had one poster a while back said he seen none of the end of chapter questions. Okay maybe not your state but my experience was they were in two states. Either way be able to answer them questions.
I read 4 tests on the above app. About 10% rang a bell though he claims they come from the manual questions. There's not that many questions in the manual. But any practice test is a positive.
The test it self isn't hard. The majority of the questions are multiple choice A,B,C,D and maybe an All the Above which itself is a clue to the answer but still give it thought. Two of the choices might be close and two are stupid in many cases leaving you figuring out between two possibilities. Then you have a few True/ False questions.
If possible have a study partner and drill each other. Learn each chapter one at a time instead of trying to learn the whole manual all at once.
With a little effort studying anyone should cruise right through it.
I guess what I'm getting at is you can't learn too much but don't focus on one practice test as your source of preparing for your exam.
If your DMV is in a city of size you can expect a long line when you get there. My last one outside Chicago there was probably 30 people in line.stevenneill and Tracks Thank this. -
The test I took today had 2 questions about taxi cabs, a question about the max speed on a pick up truck with under 2, 000 lbs weight limit two questions about farm tractors and 1 question about farm trucks. They also asked what year turn signals were required on all vehicles and I was like...who friggen cares? Those vehicles are older than I am and haven't got anything to do with anything...anyway...I only missed 3 out of 40 so I'm happy
