Hi everyone, I just got hired by Coca-Cola as a drivers assistant, I have a class B CDL and they are going to train me to learn the route and upgrade my license to a class A CDL. The problem is I was already issued two CDL learners permits, I couldn't go to school after I was issued the first one cause a few personal issues arose but attained my CDL B with the second permit. I heard that you can only be issued two in a lifetime, Is that true? would their be anyway I could be issued a third so I could complete my training, thanks.

Hmm that's weird a lifetime of two permits. Worst case scenario you get a permit in another state after declaring it your home (i dont know how it works, but Cr england school does this I think, or Swift). then after getting the license you transfer it back to home state

No, that's not the case. You can only get a permit, then if need be (it expires) you can get a second permit. However, if that one expires you will have to go and re-take the written test for a "third" permit (you will more or less be just like the first- if need be you can get a "second" one or fourth in this case.....)

Whoever told you that it's 2 in a lifetime is an idiot. That is all. Carry on.

    G.Anthony and 123456 Thank this.

Thanks Mudguppy, So it's just as simple as going down to the local DMV and asking to retake the written test? I'll go tomorrow then, appreciate it.

On their website it has a brochure that says you have 180 days after getting the permit to get the cdl. If not, you may be issued one more permit.

The wording is so bad I cant tell what the deal is. Call them in the morning, then come back here and post the answr incase some poor soul is searching for the same question

Right, will do, but I already achieved a class B cdl after my second permit so I was wondering if the getting the cdl would clean my slate and I would be allowed to get two more permits. Still going there tomorrow.

Kinda confused what your asking here. Having a class B going to upgrade to an A, then the permits no longer come in play. All it will be is a upgrade thru coke since they're paying for it and training you, not a bad deal. Think your over thinking it all seriously.

He will still need a "A" permit, to train/drive while obtaining his "A" license. You can't just drive a semi with a CDL B and tell the nice officer "What?!? I'm training for my class A....See? Here's my class B that allows me to".

    123456 Thanks this.

I'm 99.99% sure, but like HorseShoe said, might as well call first to make sure.
