I confess that I am not sure if this is the appropriate forum to post this, so please forgive me if I'm out of bounds.

My small company is in need of a CDL Class A driver to drive our flatbed truck beginning Monday for approximately one week in the Chicago area. This is an OTR temporary position. The driver will not have to do anything but drive, as others will be loading and unloading materials for you.

If interested and available, please call Northern Metals, 248-582-0300. This is an hourly paid assignment and you will be able to discuss your rates and expectations directly with the owner prior to beginning. Everything needed will be provided for you, and you will be covered under company insurance for the duration of the job.

I'm having a hard time locating drivers but I know there are many of you out there. I'm hoping someone will see this and that we can begin a mutually beneficial relationship with future opportunities for more temporary jobs.

    Thank you!

Hi NorthernMetals, I don't mean to be rude, but join the club. There are over 100 job postings for drivers in Milwaukee's CL alone today. This country has a serious driver shortage problem, and I fear it's going to get worse before it get's better. I wish you luck, but as old farts like me hang it up, not many people are going into this line of work.

There are a few of us youngins getting into it! All I can say to TS is that you should be prepared to shell out a high dollar for this gig. Full time jobs are a dime a dozen in this industry. You would probably be better off looking for an O/O I think but I'm also a noobie. Oh and another thing you should know is that drivers hate driving in Chicago with a passion.

Think it's bad in Milwaukee you should check out the Chicago transport craigslist. If you your record clean you're pretty much guaranteed a job. Can't say that about many other industries.

Maybe not the mega bottom feeders with their ridiculous requirements but the small outfits if you have a pulse, a semi decent MVR, and can pass a drug test they'll hire you.
