Okay.... so I am relatively new to the world of truck driving and just had some questions on these things called CB's!! :biggrin_25522:

I know how to use one.... I think. But, I don''t know how to choose one and don't know a darned thing about the antannae, amplifiers, etc. for a better coverage area. Any suggestions?

Secondly, what is the CB lingo nowadays? What words shoulb be avoided and what words are generally acceptable? Any codes I should know?

Lastly, what is the generally accepted CB etiquette? What is good and not good to do?

Any and all comments would be greatly appreciated!! :biggrin_25514:

Nobody uses any CB lingo any more except 20 and sometimes (rarely 10)
One word of advice, don't call any one good buddy!:biggrin_25513: Just think on it for awhile:biggrin_2559:

There sure is a lot of lingo used. But it all seems to be terms for cops along the highway.

cobra 25 peaked and tuned with a wilson antenna is a good combo without spending a arm and a leg on a cb, avoid the cobra 29 and find a good cb shop for the peak and tune, a good cb shop can help with antenna setup and swr tuning

I like twin 48" fiberglass whips, astatic noise canceling mic, and a external speaker that has a talk-back function. this setup works best for me. in terms of the cb itself, any decent one will do. its all in the antenna setup and mic that really makes a difference i believe.
