I'm looking for a CB repair shop in Upstate NY,there use to be a guy in Syracuse behind the Pilot, but apparently he's gone.I have 2 radios that need a little TLC (an old Radio Shack and a Cobra 29),was wondering if anyone here knows of anyone.I've seen a couple of CB shops out on the road in Pennsylvania, but I don't go through those areas frequently enough to drop off and pick up....any help or suggestions would be appreciated

I personally wouldn't recommend them but this should be the closest place to you. It might be prudent to read the reviews before you give them any money.

Doc's Electronics in N.Y. Doc is in my mind the best CB radio tech in the country .

Not sure I'd go that far but he's pretty good at patching up old president hr2510's. I'd still have to take them elsewhere to get the final tune but as far as restoring old antique radios I definitely would recommend Doc's work

He added extra channels to a Uniden PC 122 and tuned it up. Great job.

Pick the best radio shop in the country and mail the radio(s) to them.

Yes on certain older CB radios you can get extra channels out of them. It has to do with the PLL chip that the manufacturer used. Eventually the FCC caught on and made the manufacturers change the board design. On the old Johnson 123 radios, you could use some of these extra CB channels (I believe they were frequencies for R/C planes), just by adjusting the channel selector in between certain existing CB channels. No board mod needed :).
