Anyone have any experience with radio over internet?

I need something I can keep in contact with my drivers immediately without having to dial them on the phone however a cb won't work very well in the san francisco bay.

There are apps that'll turn a smart phone into a 2 way radio or there are Motorola phones w/ 2 way radios built in.

How would the drivers receive your internet transmissions?

You can use your PC as a CB Radio using an app but you can only talk to other people using the same app. Cell phone talk or text is the easiest and best way to communicate nowadays.

Styro I'm thinking from computer or phone essentially like a loudspeaker over the radio. California, you touch your phone you get pulled over.

have the drivers get a headset, there is really no need to go through this problem for something that already could be used. If they don't like the idea, too bad.

One company I drove for had 2 way radios in the trucks. Worked well all over California communicating with dispatch. I think they were made by uniden. Only had 3 channels.

You guys :biggrin_25515: most of the commercial systems out there are what they call trunked systems with multiple users using it at the same time through repeaters and costs a lot more than a few hundred bucks just for the radios, let alone for the access.

That's why cell phone bluetooth is the best option.

Or give the drivers the option of headset or the bluetooth speaker phones that I mentioned.
