I just got a truck and it had been in an accident. When they put it back together they didn't run the power/ground or antenna wires. My question is what is the best way to install new wiring? Is there a dedicated circuit that just feed the CB or do you just need a 12V lead and a ground. The truck is a 07 Freightliner Columbia. Thanks.

There are hot lugs (covered in soft red plastic boot covers)under the fuse cover on the right side of the dash.
You can remove the grab handle on the right "A pillar as well as the trim piece and running both wires across the top from the radio hole thru the right cubby** dropping them both behind the A pillar trim, a ground there useing a 3/8 connector and the handle screws for a good ground and clean install.

**The cardboard backing in the cubby is easily removed

    Coax install
I use a unibit to run a 12' coax into the cab, remove the outside A-pillar
panel, you will see a rubber strip that runs across the front, remove the screw securing it to the cab.

    Drill a hole about 1.5" "left"from the screw hole,useing a unibit
work the hole out to where the coax connector "just" fits.

Remove the cardboard backing in the left side(overhead) cubby hole
and gently pull the coax into the cab and across to the radio hole.

Get a big bar antenna mount, mount it as far out on the top bar
    as possible.
Secure coax end, make a 2" drop loop in the coax and secure coax with zip tie to the top bar.** I use silicone grease on all outside connections
to keep water out, both the coax to mount and antenna to stud.

2 more zip-ties will have the coax secured back to the cab, with the door open, lay the rubber gasket over the coax, mark the rubber with a pen
in line with the coax, cut the gasket just enough to lay flat on both sides of the coax.

Install the gasket screw,A-piller panel and your done.
The install is very clean and looks sorta factory :biggrin_25525:

Now pull all the extra coax across the top towards the right side cubby hole, then double back to the radio hole and secure it to the radio.

    Colorato Thanks this.
