the one I had only made it 30k before the check engine light came on. worse is that the red stop engine light came on within 400 miles of the yellow light

so I changed it, and now less than a 1000 miles later the check engine is back on. havent taken it out yet, but I'm sure it will be full of oil and not a wiring or sensor issue

time for an overhaul? it's an isx 600k on it

I will be here in a few hours, but I'm already 99% it will be drippibg oil, after only a 1000 miles

so I'm just kind of wondering if there could be anything not major wrong

I had the same problem with my ISX. I finally unplugged my sensor from the CVP housing and that stopped the codes. I took the whole sensor out of the housing and zip tied it to secure it. I did not unplug the sensor from the wiring harness. That will cause another code so leave the sensor connected to the harness. I would get an occasional code for "unusual CVP" in Insite because it was not detecting a pressure even though it was detecting a properly working sensor. Much better than the 100 error codes or more I was getting every day for excessive CVP.

First replace the CVP sensor. That is usually the problem. I had to replace the CVP sensor wiring harness. Mine had a spot rubbed off on it causing a short. So check the entire length of the harness also. Engine vibration will rub holes in many things you would never suspect.

If that does not help you can try drilling a hole in the filter, not the housing, towards the top where its the thinnest. That will allow it to breath without loosing much oil. That filter catches oil vapor and lets it condensate back into a liquid which it then returns to the crank case. A 1/2 inch hole will cause very little loss to the atmosphere. Beware though the EPA considers that tampering but its highly unlikely they will open your CVP filter housing and check it.

FYI if you have an ISX you should check out www.rawze.com its a thread site for all things ISX as well as ProStar with much helpful in depth knowledge.
