Caterpillar Engine Serial Lookup

Thank you for taking your time out for a quick reply, I am not a very knowledgeable person when it comes to engines is this engine any good? I don’t know what ( 410 BRAKE KW ( 550 BHP) means, I’m looking for reliable and powerful engine because I ran Indianapolis to Boston on I-80 with 40k+ in weight thanks

 

550 horsepower, It will be more than enough for what you want to do.

This is one of the more sought after engines. It is electronic, but is also pre-emission and ELD exempt by virtue of it's build date.

It is also getting to be an old engine, so reliability will be based upon when it has been overhauled, who did the overhaul, and what kind of care it has had.

 

2ws is one the best electronic cats made in my opinion. Same 70 pin ECM and sensors as 6NZ . Also same hard parts as 6NZ . Everything is same as 6NZ but the block. The E model block is strong with a higher nickel content, makes for less head gasket issues caused by dropped liners.

Everyone praises the beloved 6nz but it's the 2ws thats the golden child. And the best part is its ELD exempt!

 

Thanks for all help guys, 2ws didn’t workout the trucks interior had water damage, engine had oil leaks, and host of other minor issues, however I’ve found another truck it’s KW W900l year 2000 serial number is 1MM01409 if could please have a manufacturing date on it please, I’m gonna talk a look at the truck today any information that you guys can give me on the truck would be greatly appreciated. I’m looking for ELD exempt truck, this KW W900 is from year 2000 so I was wondering it qualifies. Thank you all once more.

 

1mm is the 15.8 liter e-model. Same block as 2ws. But internals are different. It is the 600 HP factory.

448 BRAKE KW (600 BHP) AT 2100 RPM

 

It will qualify for ELD exempt.

 

Thank you everyone for helping out with info, I bought this truck yesterday. The engine’s been rebuilt 300k ago and there are no oil leaks. Truck looks good overall from the inside and out.
