Caterpillar C-9 fault code list

    I am looking for a list of fault codes for a Caterpillar C-9 truck engine with serial number prefix 9DG. I did find a partial list for a 3176B, C-10, C-12, 3406E, C-15 and C-16. Are they the same for a C-9?

    I am not sure yet. The truck has a check engine light on and is scheduled to come in on Monday. I was hoping to have the list ahead of time to save some downtime once the truck gets here.

    Here's a list of flash codes. This is all the codes for HEUI and EUI, so there are a lot there wont apply to your engine, but all the C9 HUEI codes should be on it.

    BTW, Cat flash codes are fairly consistent across any engine from the PEEC right up until they stopped using flash codes. Each engine had it's own set of fault codes that it uses (none of them use them all), but engines that have the same flash code have the same fault description for that code. For example, flash code 24 is an oil pressure sensor fault, no matter what engine.

    If you can't find a specific flash code for your engine, but found that same flash code for another Cat engine, chances are that it's the same fault description.

    The codes tend to line up across most engines anymore. The engineers association did this to make it easier fore technicians.
