Code for intake valve actuator on #5. Code only pops on maybe 3 times a day. Front and rear Harness was replaced in 2013 but it does not have the little boot seals in the pigtail (I have new ends on the way). I replaced the solenoids and cleaned out the pigtails before I replace solenoids and after. When I run a intake valve actuator test there is zero change in engine sound when it gets to #5&6. When I run the IVA SOLENOID test it says ok on all. Thoughts?

With an FMI 7 it is "not responding". Than means electrically it seems OK to the ECM, that is why it passes the solenoid test. Not responding could be out of adjustment, or it may have a bad seal not letting oil pressure open them. I haven't seen a cracked IVA housing on a BXS yet, very common on MXS & NXS though. It could even be dirt or something stuck in the piston that opens the intake valves.
Make sure the O-rings are OK going to the IVA housings. If I remember right, they have a thick o-ring that can harden and crack causing an oil leak under the valve cover, that would make it not respond.QUALITYTRUCK, KB3MMX and Smellfunny Thank this. -
Ok another trip under the cover and I found the issue (99% sure). The nut on #5 intake valve adjuster was gone. I installed a new nut and adjusted valve and IVA on #5 and he is going to run it and see what happens.
