I didn't realize that IPD made 1 piece pistons for the C12, hmmm. Let us know what you find out, we have a C12 getting up there in miles that will need an inframe in the next few years.

I already have a reman head & injectors. I have read somewhere that the one piece piston is the way to go.

Did you ever get those 1 piece pistons? How's it working out for you?

I also would like to know if you use the IPD one piece pistons and how they worked. I have used Interstate McBee and IPD. Most of my friends prefer IPD and seem to of had good luck with them, as well as I have.
One thing I do when I in frame is I always measure my liner height on all six liners at the deck before I remove them. Do this to make sure a liner has not sunk, and I never trust manuals for liner protrusion heights. I refer to them, but I got burned once, and never again. Now f there is a discrepancy I call the engine manufacturer. Some people swear the dealer parts are better. I agree and disagree. Cat makes very few of their own parts anymore. IPD, Interstate and Firepower are a few who make parts for them.

What CAT does do though, is require very tight tolerances with any part they order. Why I am saying this, is that if you take a few minutes extra, and measure bearings and liner heights before you install, you will have a motor that you will be happy with. I even do this with genuine Cummins and Cat parts. I am by far and away from a Master Mechanic, and my rebuilds have seemed to do better than when I take it to a shop regardless of the parts used. But than again, when I know I have to pay for any mistakes out of my pocket, I am willing to spend a little extra time.

    sshewins Thanks this.
