I have an 06 CAT C-15 twin turbo with 970k
I have had next to zero issues with the motor or truck for that matter but it has been well maintained, I replaced both turbos a year ago, didn't need it but I had to change a gasket and already had them off, according to the shops gauge they were right in the middle of don't replace and do replace, so I just did it
I recently had the rods/main bearings replaced, the damper/balancer replaced, injectors re-sealed?? not sure what that was about but did it along with adj. the valves
Shop said rod bearings looked like they were new, in other words great shape, the mains however were worn, maybe due to a bad balancer??? I don't know
Question is, my oil pressure before all this was about 65-68 or so on start up then it would run around 60 plus or minus running down the road warmed up
Now it is about 60-62ish on start up and heated up running down the road it's more in the low 50's
here's psi on a hot motor
idle 650rpm its 30 psi
1000rpm it's 50 psi
1300rpm it's 58 psi
Everything is running great and I only did the work as a precaution to squeeze a few extra miles out of it
did the psi drop because it may have been running higher before the work due to a small issue that was fixed? or is it a normal reading and that it dropped is just nothing to be concerned about?
Thanks in advance
CAT C-15 twin turbo oil pressure ??

did you change the oil you are using from say a 15w40 to a 5w40?
what's the oil change interval youre using? -
I don't know what the shop used, I have always ran Delvac
I ran it about 5000 then changed it with Delvac but no difference, I usually change it every 15k
It was done about 10k ago, I would think if something was wrong it would have shown up by now, I know the numbers are fine but dropping after bearing replacement is just a concern
I also idled overnight and that's what my readings were, turned off engine for about an hour, just started it and at 800 rpm the psi was at 58 and the motor temp was still about 150 if that means anythingLast edited: Feb 22, 2015

only thing i can think of is after having engine torn into might need a slightly advanced oil change (or at least the filter) clogged filter could cause an oil psi drop....
but im no expert and not really a greasemonkey myself (despite the amount of it i seem to get all over me at least once a week) -
I have the same engine 06 cat msx 475Hp my oil pressure when hot stays around 48-52.

Now you made me nerves, I did take oil samples last oil change to Cat dealer , everything checked out OK.I will check the oil again. Last oil change was at speedy I am not sure that they put in Delvac I asked for it?? What oil do you use? -
Did shop use plastigauge on main bearings? Accidentally bent oiler tubes when checking rods?
