I have a 6nz that spun a rod bearing on #5 cylinder. The crank is not repairable so we're doing an out of frame overhaul on the truck. I priced a new crank from CAT for around $9000. I know of 4 different guys that put an aftermarket crank (that is manufactured somewhere over seas) in there motor and have over 800k on them. Does any one know the brand ? I know it comes with a 2 year warranty and its either manufactured in Italy or Spain (I can't remember). Any help is appreciated

I would look at a used crank. I believe that you can find a lot in excellent condition. I worked on them 30 years this would be the avenue I would explore.

I do not know but google or E bay should.
Times have changed but trucks are still wrecked every day.
It has been a long time since I dealt with that but a used engine could be purchased for about one and a half times the cost of an in frame or crankshaft..
A reputable supplier I dealt with inspected the liners, replaced rods and mains, warrantied them for thirty days. With that or a reman you could be back on the road in a week and time is money.
Do not get attached to it, it's an engine not a good spouse, try to make the best financial decision.lots of character Thanks this. -

just asking, can't that bad journal be welded up and turned down? we used to have that done on gas engines.
