    Good day all,

I'm looking for a document showing the power and torque curves or power/torque per RPM specifications of the CAT3406E (2WS) or the C15 (6NZ) engines (factory tuned).

I've searched through the entire internet and simply can't find what I'm looking for. There are hundreds of brochures, graphs etc for the 3406E MARINE version but nothing for the on-highway 3406E. When searching for the 6NZ I'm only getting specs for the C15 with ACERT, nothing older.

I'm specificaly looking for the 2WS rated @ 1850 lb'ft/550HP or alternatively the 6NZ with the same ratings (6NZ because it should have the same or very similar curves as the 2WS).

I would really appreciate your assistance. Thanks in advance.

I'd looked one up for the last of the 3406-E 550hp years ago. I seem to remember that they weren't quite as flat @ peak power, i.e. they had a touch more 'hump' to the hp curve around peak (just above 1600rpm) which was ~590hp, IIRC. Like these, it carried rated power (or more) from ~1400rpm all the way up.

I miss that truck, it pulled like a beast!

    Hi Hammer,

Thanks for the insight. That is exactly what I would like to see, how those curves differ.

I was amazed to see how flat the curve is on the C-16 (7cz) engine and then how the torque steps down on that 600HP model. Almost exactly 100 lb-ft per 100 RPM. This means @ 1700 rpm you're still getting 1850 torque. I can just imagine that this must givien a very pleasant driving experience pulling those heavys.

    C-16 spec:

I spent quite a bit of time trying to find one a few months ago, like you mentioned, all you find are the marine specs. I think your best bet is to find a brochure on a collectible site, or maybe ask a few old time Cat dealers if they have any laying around.

Just shift that 600 curve down and just a touch to the right, and that's the 550 E curve.

    Shedlock2000 Thanks this.
