    Hello everyone,

I have a 1995 kenworth w900 with a cat 3406c mechanical motor.had an inframe done a little over 200k miles ago. I just recently bought the truck and noticed that I had coolant in my oil. So I started to investigate what the problem is. As I have been reading forums and asking my buddy who works as a heavy truck mechanic to see what procedures I can do to determine what could be the problem I happened to notice that my weep hole on my water pump had a rubber plug in it. Would this cause a seal to blow out and leak in to the front engine cover? Here is a picture of what I found.

I know it can be several things but. For me and cats, it has always been oil in radiator = oil cooler. coolant in oil = liner. bubbles in radiator = head gasket, I have no idea what a plug in the weep hole would do.

    Someone will tell us.

If some idiot went to that extent by putting a plug in the weep hole to stop coolant from coming out. Then yes that would be your problem .
Put a new pump on it asap

That weep hole is there so you don't get coolant in your oil when your water pump packs it in.

Geez I thought I've seen it all but I guess not

    countryboy23 Thanks this.

That is sop for idiots. I know a man who did just that. He had a leaky water pump so he sooo wisely plugged the weep hole which caused the coolant to run straight down into the oil pan. It cost him a rebuild. I suggest you change the water pump. If you don't know this heed a word to the wise - DO NOT DROP the water pump even when boxed as you may well end up putting another one on. I would also change the oil and filters. If the engine does not have a water filter, I would put one on.

Do the right thing before you spend a dime. Pull the pan and pressure the radiator it needs new oil anyway. What you wanna hear could be far from the problem
