We use ‘synthetic blend’ 15w-40 in everything we have, CAT, Cummins, Detroit’s, MB’s. All ‘unbranded’ suppliers, never had an engine problem that could be traced back to the oil.
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -

The Delo 10-30 bottle claims better protection than a 15-40. I had good oil samples with it in a DDEC 3 Series 60. It will flow faster and you gain fuel milage with it most likely. Flows faster during cold starts good for winter.

Local cat house only has 10W30 in bulk at their shop. They advise to use that grade year round.
Ive used full synthetic for ever in a E model and then a C15. The c15 has 630K and like 22k hours on it. You might develop some oil leaks but that’s it ……
As far as the difference between a blend and a semi . I don’t think there is one…… all semi synthetic oils are part Dino and part synthetic I believe ?
we had some oil experts on here maybe someone will chime in…Oxbow Thanks this. -
Is bob the oil guy still around
Oxbow and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
but still looking for advice for high mileage truck which wil be good any cat oil expert please advice -
15W40. Lighter grade of oil for newer engines to reduced internal drag and increase mileage. Not a fan of thinner oils and extended intervals.
