Actually.... they’re lonely. Even the Antelope avoid them.
Oil Field trucks run those weigh stations constantly. If they didn’t. They’d be busted.

"Q. Do I have to stop at all ports in the State of Wyoming?
A. You are required to stop anytime you see a regulatory sign (black letters on a white background) instructing you to stop, or an officer has directed you to stop. Pre-pass vehicles which receive an in-cab green light may continue, providing they are not hauling livestock or do not have an oversize or overweight load. Example of POE signage:
- All commercial Vehicles
- Transport operators
- Livestock haulers, and
- Deliveries into Wyoming
That's an abuse of authority. How many times are you "entering" the state with that load?tscottme and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
What he said, and the sign looks like this .
Cattleman84 and tscottme Thank this. -
Just an update.
I stopped at the POE in Casper WY today with an oversized load (14.5 tall) i had already stopped in Sheridan WY for permit.
I went across the scale and then went in with paperwork.
The officer said I was not directed on the permit to stop there.
Then he told me that only white signs with black lettering you are required to stop at .
Green signs with white letters you are not required to stop.JolliRoger, Crude Truckin', nredfor88 and 5 others Thank this. -
I find it a waste of time when heading South to North and having to stop in the port - get there and it’s closed.
Now I usually just roll of through. -
I have never diverted off the main highway for either of them. And it has never been a problem.nredfor88 Thanks this. -
If you are just passing through, there is no need to pull in. -
Every time I go into the Gillette scale I'm the only truck in there. I know I'm not the only truck passing through town. As for Casper, the only time I go through is if I'm going to or from Rawlins which isn't very often.
