No you can't carry a SHOTGUN but yes u can carry a handgun if u got a concealed carry permit
-
You can carry a handgun with a concealed permit from coast to coast? I go all over, it seems I heard once there are certain states that wont allow a handgun even with a permit? Do you knoe those states by any chance?
-
Thier is no law against carrying a firearm. Thier is however company policy, and some places you go weapons of any type are not allowed.
Other than that, any place you could legally carry if you wernt trucking. You can still carry, shotguns included.
BUT there are so many different laws in each state, you have to decide if it' worth it or not. -

Im a licensed carry but only in certain states that honors Arkansas to do it and a few states in particular with their own licensing, Maryland to be precise, they are a may issue with ignoring all others but their own. We are a shall issue state meaning provided you are not a fugitive, felon, certain persons (Mental retardation and other handicaps etc) and not a Pot License holder (Medical Pot License holders automatically have all weapons confiscated permanently and sent to melt shop)
Considering what I hauled in the past out of McKesson in Memphis I would be a fool not to carry, I would also be a fool not to go into say New Jersey. Or Maryland etc.
Employers by and large have a rule against weapons. It's watered down paper tigers here in Arkansas there is a State Law the espressly protects your person and your car against search on parking lot etc. (Not inside where there is possibility of security etc. It's strictly vehicle carry and outside carry concealed on your person)
Things have changed. Those high dollar medicine loads almost cry out to me to carry. Even though I generally do my job very well for what's required of me (For example never stopping while loaded and rolling. You cannot stop. If you did for longer than a stop light, there is going to be alot of attention quickly.)
One 18 wheeler OTR company and i briefly talked about money based loads which requires the Driver to be armed and also the rolling gaurd to have under a rifle and so on to protect those loads. It would be motivating yes but Im not sure if in a situation like that off duty really means off duty. It would be difficult for me to sit there under a rifle all day if there was a newbie still learning to drive. I'll just stick with medicines. -
A search would have turned up dozens of threads on this subject.

That is one little special world you live in.
