Just a heads-up to any Joining Carroll Fulmer . Updated 2023..

    Orientation........
Typical few days, driver test, drug test, videos.. and payroll info..
They do have onsite housing . Or you will go to the hotel . About 35 min away .
    They provide. breakfast.lunch dinner.

    Location......
If you didn't drive, bring some groceries the nearest stores are a few miles away,
They do have a company truck they allow drivers to use if u need a quick run.
I would bring your own bedding just in case you are in the housing unit.

    Pay.....
They will tell you they pay .50c a mile
Or sliding scale (less miles less cents/more miles more cents)

You have to pick one option you are locked for 2 yrs .

***Please pay attention, your rate is 41.cents , They tax the .41 cents and don't tax the .9cents to give the the illusion of 50c per mile

So you will be taxed 1x by the company, and 1x again for normal government deductions...

They will NOT tell you this in Orientation**

    Miles ????????
they promise 2300 miles a week, minimal
You will not make the miles . They don't have the loads, you will be sent home with hours left on your clock. Or spend a lot of time sitting . Expect 500-600/wk checks.

    REPAIRS../Breakdowns....
They have very nice equipment, but YOU will be responsible for Anything more than a flat tire , they will pay up front and hit your pay in one sum or increments until it's paid back, ..

    PCTIME...
The company likes you to use this only for getting to safe parking..and will still question you as to why it was used . So watch your logs .If you have hours on your clock try best to do any errands then . If your tablet logs out or stalls .. immediately pull over to update it.

    STAFF.....
They are mostly friendly, but very vague, they will not tell you anything in person,. They will just send it in messages and give general responses when you question anything.

    OVERALL....
    They have very nice equipment...

If you can deal with 41cents amile
500-600 checks, and paying for repairs

Then this company may work for you .

Sounds like @Lonesome and I just found our retirement gig.

    Paying for a driver's own repairs seems a bit....illegal.

Not if its a lease, which it sounds like. The $0.09 'they dont tax' would be the 15% SS/FICA

bryan21384 and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this.

If I do anything during a day, I don't pay for repairs on a company tractor.

However, this very yesterday, I did loan the company money for tire repairs. "We don't have an account with Les Schwab."

If it’s a lease they shouldn’t be taxing anything. They can only tax’s out on an employee

That is true. That being the case, I worked for an outfit hauling mail. They were required (by the P.O. contract) to give us .03 a mile "for retirement" which wasnt taxable (sort of a 401 thing, but not). Dont remember the particulars. It was many many years ago.

This could be similar to that. But that would make him a W2 employee, and the company deducting anything from his check for things like "repairs" would be flat out illegal.

I'm not driving truck at the moment but if I was to go back to I couldn't see doing it for under ,70 cents a mile minimum
