this came with my recent purchase and I'm setting about tonight to ID the issue with it. I'll get to that in a moment.

Where's the serial number located? It's dark here already and I don't feel like crawling around to find it.

Side question-Unit starts and runs but will not run for more than 10-15 seconds max. Control pad comes back with check engine run.

Narrowed it down to bad alternator, something win the oil pressure or maybe refrigerant pressure issue. Ideas? I'll come back with numbers on the alternator and an idea on the oil situation sooner than later. Unit says 11,250 hours on pad and I don't doubt it.

If you take the top cover off and look inside box there is a plate on the frame with numbers.

I had the issue with my unit the other day. When you have the cover off look at the ecm/ control unit and if there is a fault, one of the red diodes will be on. I went ahead and unplugged both plugs for about a minute and it seemed to reset itself and unit has been running great ever since I did that. This was the second time it did that to me. Mine had a little red light for the temperature. I also unplugged the wire on the temperature sending unit and plugged it back in. Just in case it was a bad connection. Last summer it was the starter. Same thing unplugged it and started running fine.

Good luck. Try the camera to get a picture of the data plate and you will have all the numbers in your phone. I did that for my truck, reefer trailer and APU. It comes in handy at the parts counter.

I took the shell off and immediately noticed the circuits the small alternator was attached to were filthy. Tried running it a few times; ### end of the alternator was squealing like a pig. Pulled the ####### and sprayed it with a whole can of of pb blaster in between heating it with a propane torch and turning the pulley. Cleaned the circuits with a brush and silicone then reinstalled it.

Put it all together and she's running great. Heating element inside needs work- not running well at all to be frank. But the small alternator is running free and fine now. Putting out14.2v.

Any tips for getting the electric interior heater up to snuff? I found the engine info in the interior of the shell btw, thanks for the tip though.

Make sure your filter is clean, condenser is clean and your ducts are tight. My heater wasn't putting out much heat a while back and I realized the hoses had come of the unit. I put zip ties on the hoses now to keep them attached. I run Alaska and my stuff takes a beating. If you take the lid of the unit you can see the electric coils for the cab heater maybe test them and see if they are good.

Where are the electric coils? Mine has an alternator behind the fan mount that is small, it also has a football sized alternator mounted on the bottom that I'm assuming is used to generate the electricity for the cab heat. Stator and circuits need cleaned on that.

It's 10pm here so I can't get fresh filters but did pull the air filter out and blow it clean, which will do for bringing it back to life for now. Hell it's running and that's a major achievement for the night.

I was talking off the filter on the inside unit. It has a big piece of foam in the air intake side of the box. I bought mine used and the filter was pretty plugged. It's just foam you can blow it out or take it in the shower with you and give it a good wash there.:D Condenser and coils are in that same box after the foam filter.

Just as an update to anyone that might me remotely curious, I got the unit running.

Checked the alternator and it was just aboslute junk. Pull it off the block, torqued, torched and blasted the ### end bearing set on it with penetrating oil- got it turning freely enough to salvage it. Silicone on the bearing pack and reattached. Started running right after.

All new belts, filters and fluids. Heat ended up not working and a simple thermal fuse in the ccu ended up being the issue.

Outside of needing new dampers, a new condenser and some minor perephiral repairs I'm extremely impressed and curious as to why these aren't more popular. Easy to work on, third party parts and filters fit almost everywhere and after putting 40 more hours on it can say it's a great unit on initial impressions, even with nearly 12,000 hours.

Etd serial number on frame and ontop of the evaporation box. That is usually the one still in tact. Your generator is the source of power to your HVAC system. The foam/mesh Infront of the evaporator is a easy to clean filter for air return. Which is also key. Make sure you are getting addequit return air. The display for the comfort pro make sure you have the slider all the way over to H. Seen that to many times where people complain about heat or vice versa not getting cold air. Make sure your comfort settings are off. Seen too many times where it won't allow itself to blow full hot air.
