    Hey everyone,

Today I was in a bit of fender bender. It was due to mechanical malfunction in my personal vehicle. Anyway, this happened in Florida. The officer gave me a careless driving ticket. I've read on Florida's DMV site that if I go to driving school, the points will not be put my on my license & I'll get to keep my safe driver status.

I've never had a CDL or applied for a permit. I am suppose to be starting school next month. What I would like to know from any of you who might know, is after I complete CDL school, will I be hire-able? Will the companies be able to see this on my record? I don't have any speeding tickets or any other violation on my record.

I'm talking to my lawyer about possibly contesting it since it's a pretty ridiculous ticket. It was in a small town & it was a small town cop who gave the ticket. Both the other vehicle & I were at a complete stop/red light. I was at a safe distance from them. Then my car stalled, cut off, and after restarting it, the car jumped forward & rear-ended the other vehicle. There wasn't even a lot of damage. Just a few scratches & small dents. We both drove away fine. Thank, y'all!

If I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. :biggrin_25520:

If nothing gets on your DMV report then I would think you're in the clear. However, sometimes states take a longer time than others so if I were you I would check with some companies before you shell any money out. A ticket like that would hurt you at most places so it's worth the time to check. You can call them but just don't go by one answer, get many. That way you'll know from the people that do the hiring and not some school that wants your cash. Good luck.

Some companies won't hire you, but many others will. Probably have to look outside the companies the school usually recommends. Put your location on your profile; state & nearest city.

check with ticket clinic or if your lawyer is good ...it may cost you more now but you will be glad you took care of it ..they may deffer the ticket or lower the fine ...just fight for it not to go under your MVR.

I'd try to come up with something better than "I suffered a single instance of complete brake failure that immediately fixed itself" if I planned to contest.

I think many/most carriers/insurers accept 2 or 3 speeding or traffic control device violations within 3 or 5 years, careless driving including a collision, I'm not so sure. But I suspect it probably wouldn't act as a complete bar to being hired as a driver.

Go to court, worst that can happen is you lose, best thing is the cop doesn't show.

It's actually not a single incident. The vehicle shuts off every time it's cranked now unless it's given a little gas.

There's no significant damage to either vehicle either. So, the malfunction could not have been caused the collision it self. Even if this is proven though, I'm not sure it would matter to one of these small town judges.
