So Roehl called me back today, I cant go to their school because of some problem with PA and switching the License over. I told her about Roadmaster school and said she would check on some other schools for me. (already have a pre hire with Rohel) They have been straight forward with me, honest and help full, when she called me back within 20 min, She had checked and come to find out Werner owns 49% of Roadmaster and are under contract to send a % of the students to Werner. Anyway thought people looking at Roadmaster would like to know before hand, they will try really hard to get you to go to Werner and that they Make you do an application with Werner within the first few days of going their, I opted out when i realized they lied to me. 3 to 4 weeks training they claim for cdl, Turns out if you dont do 60 hours externship with their lackey company's then you wont receive a certifcate. They will drag your training out and you will be lucky to be done in 6 to 7 weeks.

This is the School In PA, I cannot speak for all schools.. On a side note the Trainers i did speak to seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. My recruiter and Finance guy i spoke to both lied to me. and left out the 60 hours forced externship to complete the program. They claim 160 hours and youll have a CDL and Certificate. They LIE

I went to Roadmaster. It was literally - and i am not exaggerating here - the best decision of my life. They allow you to apply anywhere you want. Sure they encourage werner but all you have to do is tell werner you are declining their offer because you have a better opportunity elsewhere. Roadmaster is one of the best schools you can go to and its widely recognized as such in this industry. Sure, i ran into the losers in my class who whined and complained about everything. Being around these inferior individuals was personally the only downside to my stay at roadmaster. So i avoided them and hung around the winners.

Glad it went it well for you, I did mention i was refering to the school I went to check out, And Ill just assume you weren't saying that i am a "loser" I am an honest straight forward kind of person, they lied to me perhaps some people are ok with that, I am ok with a person accepting the treatment he/she thinks they deserve, but for me when i start into something i expect to go in not having been lied. If they tell you 3 to 4 weeks for CDL then that is what i would expect, not 5 to 7 weeks. I just wanted honesty and good training.

What school did you go to?

if the contract says that roadmaster must send (say 50%) to Werner, and there are 12 people in class, then 6 go and 6 go someplace else. they (the school) may have you fill out applications, but YOU are under NO obligation to go where they tell you to go.

as i remember it, last time i looked, it was still America....and you still have some freedom left.

Of course i didnt call you a loser. I dont know you. I was speaking only of the people in my class who had problems with Roadmaster. They were either losers, druggies, or double digit IQ points below me. Not being arrogant or ####y that was just my own personal experience and opinion. I had my CDL in my hand 5 weeks from my first day of class and it only took that long because our local DMV was booked. 160 hour course cerificate in hand. The whole nine yards. I went to the Fontana, CA location. My instructor was Monica. I dont know if she is still there but she cares deeply about her students. 1 year later and im local, home every night and make more money than everyone in my immediate family and one of them has a college degree and ALL of them are older than me and have more work experience than me.

Roadmaster here in Columbus has old Werner trucks and trailers to train in. I was told that if you go with their " core carriers" ( Werner, Stevens, USXpress, Covenant, TMC) that those companies will pay $2000.00 towards tuition. The cost would be $4995.00 instead of $6995.00 You must also agree to work for those carriers X amount of time.

I understand i was under no obligation to go, all i was saying is that they told me i would have to do 220 and not 160 hours to get my cdl, also that they were backed up from big classes and several as of yet unsuccessful students, student were getting only 10 to 30 min a day in a truck over 10 hour period. less than 5 hours road time after 5 weeks, returning to the school every week just to stand around waiting. In the first hour of the class they told us 80% of the students go with Werner, And that several left after 160 hours without a certificate to drive for the company that they wanted and not the one Roadmaster wanted. But they key their is they didnt have a certificate, wich i am told is required by most companies i spoke too. I just felt they were being dishonest and that concerned me

ok, they told you 80% go to Werner, that however does not mean they are forced to do so. it's just that 80% decided to go.

as far as the school recruiter lying to you, get used to that as well,as lying is part of the game in this business. recruiters are nothing but head hunters, at schools, colleges. jobs. the sell you a story and you either walk away, or buy it. to me, a recruiter is lower than whale snot.

a 160 hour course is enough at many CDL Mills, to get you your CDL, and move on. they must be getting more of a kick back than we can imagine.

Well like i said, Werner owns 49% of Roadmaster so it is a pretty good deal for werner if they get most of the students
