We were unfortunate to take a load from BFS Network, Dave Blackman under Cardinal Logistics Management Corp. He not only did not pay detention for which I have written documentation of his agreement to pay, he wanted us to permit for 14'5 on a 14'6 or higher load so we wouldn't need pole vehicle and route survey. This broker then cancelled the load and refuses to pay for tonu and detention. I have filed a deceptive business practice complaint with the FMCSA. I have been calling Cardinal all day with no call backs. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt you’re talking about enough money to make it worth hiring an attorney, but you could call the Attorney General’s office for that state and the National Labor Board. Maybe even file a small claims court suit.

Basically, I’d do my best to make them spend money whether I got any of it or not, that and just sticking a thorn in their side for a bit.

There's a way to file against his brokerage bond for your money... Though I've never had to do it.

I hadn't thought about filing against the bond, thank you. It isn't worth going to court for but I can call the AG's office. I will also file a complaint with the BBB against them. I was hoping the FMCSA would have been more helpful, they sure can't wait to give tickets and fines to truckers, you would think they would go after brokers.

If asked to cheat on permits ask for it in writing. Preferably on company letter head, print and signed. Also have them state they assume all liabilty and will pay all fines.
    They will back up.

Filling on a Brokers Bond is easy.

Find out the bonding company and get the paperwork to start the process.

It's a great way to get them to pay if you tell them i want payment or you will file against it. They usually pay fast.

I've had to do this with the scum at Coyote recently.
