So ive had a decent amount of gig in my 8 years of trucking and Cardinal is one of the better ones. Now everything depends on your situation and what account your running and the people you work with directly but so far for me its been pretty good.
hiring process was a pain in the ###.(took bout 4 weeks)
first month was torture with all the safety crap they make you do ( they do pay you for it tho)
got put on dedicated account with dedicated tractor
10.75-11.5 hr days only longer if truck breaks down
paid by the hour if delays occur ( break down, reciever, even exsessive traffic delay)
never make less then 1300.00 a week most i made was 1450.00
monday thru friday weekends off. if u want to work more hours( if u have them) u may be able to on saturday
was prmosied and givin 2000 sign on bonus
was givin 3000 bonus for being ticket, inspection and accident free for 6 months
was givin 2 random gift cards from driver manager to olive garden for no reason other then doing a good job
company cell phone
trucks are maintained decently
my direct manager is nice. I hardly ever see or talk to him tho.
no qualcomns to deal with paper logs
I come in pretrip trailer hookup[ and run. do my stuff come back and go home. no one calls, texts, or bothers me all day.
my benefits are only 10 dollars a week ( i did opt for the cheap plan) since im young no kids and healthy
ive had jobs that were more fun then this one. this one is stressful driving 550 miles a day in the nyc-boston area, but at the end of the day im treated fairly and paid fairly. now not all gigs may be this good some may suck, i dont know im just sharing my personal situation. my run will be changing soon and i will be making less money but the work load is less so im not upset bout it
i think u need 2 year exp with perfect record. they get a little crazy on your past. i got hired tho and i aint no saint thats for sure

had to update my own post. how quickly things change in life. Was terminated for an accident. they have their policies I guess. from what ive heard since this happened was their is no loyalty at this job. one wrong move and out the door you go. guess its true
ladyfire Thanks this. -
Dang, less than a month? What type of accident was it. Serious enough most companies will show you the door. Good luck on finding a new gig. Hope all works out for you.

Cardinal has very strict policies, rear end someone, your fired. Get a ticket for talking on your on your cell phone, your fired. Get a ticket for no seatbelt, your fired. I have been here a long time, as a lease driver, an owner operator and now a company driver.

Do cardinal still uses paper logs?

Ghost_83 Thanks this.

I've heard the benefits to paper log. I'm a new school trucker. I really don't want that extra hassle with keeping up with logs. Paper logs only when necessary.

Are you allowed to use phone with blue tooth ?
