Your off to a great start. TTR is a good source of information and a lot of good people with a lot of experience and almost any question you have about trucking you can find answers here. Not all answers will be answers that you are wanting to hear but most everyone on helps and encourages drivers to be the best they can be.

    @easternguy101 --

Others here may of course disagree with me (and that's ok--that's partly what forums are for), but I would suggest for your first couple of years--focus SOLELY ON LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE A BIG RIG.

With car hauling--there are just too many other skill sets/headaches that you are trying to pick up on, all at the same time.

Instead, do a "dry van" gig for 24 months or so--then, go big....with a car hauler.

During that 24 months time--keep a clean record--don't hit anything, and no citations.

Disclosure/disclaimer: I also practiced what I've preached above.

For my first 24 months--I pulled nothing but boxes.

Then, I went big...but (instead) I chose the hazmat tanker route.

Now, I'm hauling fuel. Home daily.

Later on--you'll be glad you did.;)

    They do accept recent grad.
To be honest I am not sure if I should start as a car hauler . its one of options I have now. Someone mentioned the size of the trailers
for new drivers. I am excited and nervous at the same time.
Another note . I have yet to do a 90 degree alley parking since its not a requirements in MD.

Go for it. Get some experience with car hauling. Not all new drivers have that opportunity. Later you can try something different if you want.
United Road won't turn you loose without proper training.

    Thank you
You are raising good points. I have until the near the end of next month to make a decision . ..Speaking of dry van gig , a local company wants to give me a gig doing a dry van ,but they don't have anyone to train. The pay is %25 and %35 in some loads.

Like Lual said I would almost recommend you to do the dry van first. I started in a dry van 4 years ago. I’m currently pulling flatbed but we work for ourselves. So we make more money with flatbed loads. I wanted to haul cars when I first started but I was told some unforgiving things about car hauling, not saying car hauling would not be right for you, but I don’t think that’s bad advice to start with dry van and work your way up. Just my 2 cents.

If he recommends you doing so then I would go for it too. Like he said not all drivers have that opportunity so get some experience there and if you don’t like you can always switch. I would not go with a company that cannot provide a trainer.

If you change your mind, then go with dry van or reefers. I did reefers for 18 years and really liked it. Made more money than with dry van.
