What is the true laws of Canadian trucks hauling in the USA. Let’s say a Canadian carrier loads in MA for FL? How do they get away with this? I know my rant on the internet won’t change things. Just curious if my knowledge of this being illegal is correct. Just more trucks flooding the US market.

It’s based on the citizenship of the driver, not where the company is based. If I was a driver for a Canadian company legally I could haul loads point to point in the US but couldn’t haul point to point in Canada.

As far as how they get away with it, nobody cares as long as the freight shows up and it’s cheap. There was a member here who sold his equipment that used to run up and down I-5. He posted a while back that his old customer was using Canadian trucks to run their loads.

Read this article during breakfast this morning..
Hope this aggravates enough of us where it promotes a crackdown.
    Definitely protest worthy imo.

Don’t read the article if you have blood pressure issues..

That doesn’t matter. If you’re not a citizen you can’t haul point to point in the other country.

My question is exactly is there a way a Canadian carrier can legally pick up a load in the states and run it interstate? What does it mean to be bonded? Or does it not matter? My understanding on the rule was a Canadian carrier was supposed to deliver in the states and leave back to Canada.

Correct. It’s based on citizenship. But I have a feeling plenty of carriers just wing it and hope they don’t get caught, and honestly it’s doubtful a DOT cop would even know what to do. I follow a guy on social media and I know there’s been times he’s hauled loads point to point down here. One time I can remember he brought potatoes down to PA, then his load back to Canada was out of Nogales. I highly doubt he bounced from PA to Nogales.
