Yea, but if the cable breaks, you will also be dumping the box as well.
Yes I know you need to raise the roll off to mty. it..
can you use rolloff truck as a dump truck?

What about spread dumping material. Most jobs the grader hand wants it spread so as he doesn't have to work a pile. Most have chains rigged to keep the gate at a set distance. As mentioned earlier there is gonna be a weight difference. Some companies around here require a triaxle to scale 18 ton 23 on quads

Used some on hur. clean up you can drop the box and load it with a bobcat then take it to unload, a big sized loader will tear up your idea in a short time.
-
Oh,and have you ever been next to a roll off that goes thru a wall after the cable breaks?
I have..........

Just get a dump truck, for heavens sake.I wouldn't want to stand behind that thing loaded and trip that gate. I did that ONCE, hauling broken concrete in a dump truck. Raised the box, tripped the gate, nothing. (young and foolishly) went around back, gate was open, concrete was all jammed up. I should have let the box down, (older and wiser now), but I hit one of the chunks with a sledge and all heck broke loose. I literally jumped for my life. Just get a dump truck, please.

Just not practical at all. Not to mention, too dangerous.

If it is done with the right setup,it is just as safe as using a dumptruck.
Think about those that run with a transferbox in CA.
That box is a sort off roll off and people think off it as being safe. -
He COULD use a rolloff dumpster truck as an ordinary dump truck when he's not hauling trash, but the high tare weight might make that not very practical.
Another issue is when the cans get well used, they sag in the middle, which leads to the door not wanting to seal anymore. While fine for larger stone, this is a bad situation when hauling finer materials like CR-6.

A dump box is connected to the frame of the truck, a roll off is sitting on rails.
A dump truck can and is emptied by staying in the truck AWAY from the dangerous cargo, a roll off you have to open the DOOR (not gate) and risk debris that is MUCH heavier than trash.
In a dump truck, you can spread cargo, with a roll off what doesn't fall on you when you pop the door open will pile.
Here is an example of what everyone else in line waiting to dump at a construction site is saying: Driver 1: "What's the hold up?" Driver 2: "Oh; some dumb ### thought he could use a roll-off can as a dump truck, and we are waiting for him to open/secure his door, and then close/secure his door." Driver 3: "Yah, but it seems like he should be done by now." Driver 4: "Oh he IS done dumping, but he was sitting on a slant, and went to shake the rock out, and the #### can fell off the rails...we are waiting for the loader to flip the can back up-right so he can roll it back on the rails." Driver's 1,2,3, and 4: "I hate this guy already...gonna be a LONG season.""semi" retired Thanks this. -
I liked your little story. BTW, there are tons of YouTube videos of dump trucks tipping over( mostly frameless trailers) it shows how unstable dumping, of any kind, can be.
