I just recently got my authority and I had two signs done for my truck that are magnetic since I'm currently borrowing a truck. I was told this may be a bad ideal because I will get pulled over more. Is this true? I'm running in MS, LA, TX, TN, & AL
Can you use Magnetic Sign for USDOT Number?

I had a friend that had magnetic signs made, and the only problem he had was that they would not stick to the side of his fiberglass and aluminum truck.
Best regardslosttrucker Thanks this. -

Shouldn't b a problem--company I work with will occasionallypick up a Penske truck or two when real busy--boss didn't like the grease pencil temp way they do it so he had a couple sets of nice looking magnetic signs with all info--never had a problem

Running a rental truck without markings sure will. -
I would think some good quality metal signs would sure beat some of the barely-legible handwritten ones I see from time to time!

Magnetics are perfectly legal, that is what local DOT told me to do on my rental. Just made a set to send out on a truck that we had on an extended rental...then found out the door was fiberglass!...oops.

I had one tell me it was borderline illegal, if it fell off or was took off. Officer also said it could open up fraud when a truck is stolen and magnetic sign used to hide the original markings.
It is legal -
Way back I worked for a small petroleum hauler. We carried [5] different bills of lading and our company Brockways had sets of magnetic signs stuck to the inside rear of the cab to use as needed.
