If you drive a commercial vehicle and is limited to the 60 hour rule, can you still drive for Uber? Will it count towards your 60 hour rule and will you need a 34 hour reset if both your truck driving hours and uber driving hours hit 60 hour/week? Thank you.

The way I am led to understand it, working at any job counts against your clock, regardless if its a driving job or not.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll be corrected shortly lol.Hammer166, Tb0n3, Flat Earth Trucker and 6 others Thank this. -

On-duty time means all time from the time a driver begins to work or is required to be in readiness to work until the time the driver is relieved from work and all responsibility for performing work. On-duty time shall include:
(9) Performing any compensated work for a person who is not a motor carrier.
So yes, anytime to get paid to work you need to log those hours.Of course since you are talking Uber, are you really getting paid or are you paying to work? But that's a completely different topic..Northeast Hillbilly, Crassius, Wasted Thyme and 3 others Thank this. -
Many, many drivers work on their days off and don't report it. I wouldn't report it. Uber drivers can make some decent money when they're off the road from trucking.
One place I worked, one of the drivers was always preaching about legalities in trucking and how anyone that works somewhere off on their days off from trucking, should be reported and lose their CDL.
Well, guess what, he had been driving on weekends for Howard Baer Trucking and been doing it for years.
No one demanded he be fired and we all just laughed it off. A few even went there and started driving on their days off.70s Trucking, Speed_Drums, Flat Earth Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -

Many drivers on this forum work during their sleep periods in truck stops, by working the stock market, instead of sleeping. Some are making tons of money. Should they report that to their trucking company and say, "I'm out of hours because I played the stock market too long today."
Investigators can confiscate a computer to find out what the driver has been doing and if it interfered causing the driver to not get proper rest. So, yes, if I can bank money driving Uber, I wouldn't hesitate.Northeast Hillbilly, Speed_Drums, lester and 2 others Thank this. -
Do you drivers report you’re trip to the mall with you’re family or driving around town doing errands? What a bunch of pansies
