Hello fellow drivers. Like I said in an earlier post, I'm new to Swift still and don't know the best way of doing things. So I'm hoping some of you experienced drivers can help me out.
I picked up a load in Kansas City on Thursday going to LA that doesn't deliver until Wednesday morning (live unload, very specific appointment time). So now, sitting here in Barstow in the middle of my second 34-hour reset, I'm remembering a driver I talked to at a fuel island in Illinois. He had a load going to Texas, but he was going to try T-calling it in Oklahoma City.
So my question, going forward, is can I T-call loads like this? Or once I get a load is it mine to the final? Thanks for your help.
Can I T-call this load?

Since you have ran all the miles off of it and it delivers in the morning, the chance of you t-calling it are nill. You should have asked your DM b4 accepting load about a t-call since there was so much time on it.

I don't run for Swift... But with the company I do run for we have drop yards all over... If we get the load there early, we can sometimes drop in those yards for a local driver to deliver... Need to keep the locals busy and us OTR drivers rolling
not sure if Swift does that to... But it is a 'sister' company I run for

In the future ask your DM as soon as you have the load. They won't always accommodate you, but often they will.

Cool, thanks for the help. I trained on a WalMart account, and while my trainer was great, there's a lot about going over the road that I'm still learning. Thanks again.

Rule of thumb, from what I was told, is that tcalls need to. Be dropped off no less than 24hrs, and needs some miles left to run, otherwise its hard for them to hand it off. Daycab drivers usually are booked. This is what I was told from the tcall window in phx.
When I tcall, its cause I don't want to sit over 24hrs on a load. So I send a freeform to my dm.. ill accept load xyz123 if I can tcall it @ so n so.. if this is ok, can you have the csr send a preplanned tcall with the load assignment.. have it setup before you move an inch. This way yer more inclined to get the tcall rather than sit on it and be asking while yer 10mi away.
