i want to avoid DC in the am and cut through delaware to VA. beach.
when i was training 2+ years ago my trainer and i had to backtrack 11 hours because we had no air dump. a driver told me over dinner tonight that they enlarged the height of the tunnel. anyone know if this is true? i am only carrying 15K so there is NO sag.

You can as long as you can clear the inspection.

I honestly don't know. I do know there is a number you could call and ask. I will try to find it for you before I go to bed.

Yes you can, if you aren't over 102" wide or 13'6" high. I've driven it pulling a 13'6" reefer, and assorted flatbed loads with never a problem.

    Just mind the wind...

Er... Just reread your post and I don't recall a tunnel on 17. Are you referring to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel on 13?

This is a very good general question because there are drivers at my barn----who run this route everynight and say you can't take the tunnel on I-64 (or was it I-664?) going towards or leaving norfolk.

But i took a 13'6" trailer in there no problem (this was before they told me you couldn't.
