This “Peoplenet” antenna was mounted to the roof of my 2015 Pete 579. I want to remove it but the wiring harness goes way deep inside the truck somewhere - cannot find anywhere to disconnect. I’m not sure what the little black square thingy does - possibly something with the factory radio GPS which I don’t use. My truck is too old to communicate with Paccar service anyway. Cut it and forget it?

I would unplug it from inside before cutting it. If it's still hooked up inside could cause weird issues on electrical side.

The square black box looks like the old SiriusXM antenna
The other looks like old old cell phone antenna
My last 3 trucks communicated with Paccar but never had that antenna??
If you can’t find the other ends as they probably go into the wall etc then I would cut them. Tape off the ends and push them into wherever they come out of the truck and seal off the hood with siliconeAnother Canadian driver, Magoo1968 and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -
The square box is a gps unit. They're usually on the windshield.

My 2003 pickup had one on the roof for the radio and it had no gps
I could be wrong. Been wrong before
Found this
Are there any symbols on it?ProfessionalNoticer and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
There are no symbols on the black box. There is a sticker on the curly antenna cable that says its for Peoplenet. I looked that up and I believe its the dealer communication with the truck. The last dealer I was at said my truck was too old for that. I am installing a roof mount air conditioner (DOMETIC RTX2000) so I had to cut off the mount for the antenna on the roof to make room for the air.

XM radio antena
trukitt and Another Canadian driver Thank this. -
I had a 06 that started having crazy problems and finally wouldn’t start . Someone had cut old Qualcomm wires behind the dash and it caused major issues. If peoplenet is hooked to ecm disconnect properly
Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I may try to relocate them although the cables are not long enough to properly relocate the bracket. I don’t want to mess with losing XM. I think your arguments against cutting the cables are worth merit.

If you cut it off, the aliens are you going to get you.
