The 2 local guys that can test my DDEC2, said they’re 2-3 weeks out, of being able to check my truck. I called a place that rebuilds ECM’s in SIL and the woman who answers the phone for them, seems to think they can. If so, it be relatively easy for me to unplug and unbolt.

Well, I imagine it depends upon who is plugging in. Pittsburgh Power can reprogram a computer out if the truck. But their remote tuners have to have the ecm in the truck, as if they only have a truck's diagnostic port for their computer.

I am guessing to examine and test the ecm for problems, it would just about need to be out of the truck, however.

The truck is basically in “limp” mode because after a couple minutes of initial driving, it limits its rpm’s to 1,800. The truck has a speed limiter as well. I’ve changed the cam and crank sensor, checked grounds and checked fuses in the battery box. Im not a 100% sure but I think it’s in the ECM.

One local guy that I talked to, wants to test it but seems quick to want to change it over to a DDEC4. I’m kinda reluctant to do that, with it running fine, aside from the max rpm of 1800.

Sounds like you need someone to plug in take a look around for anything abnormal. I would try that before sending it out somewhere. Bad ECMs are not as common as many people think.

They're misdiagnosed often and they aren't cheap. Maybe try to find a used one somewhere to use as a tester. You could very well end up spending a bunch of money for nothing or worse yet, losing the ECM in the shipping process.

IMG_4823.jpeg Got a hold of a guy who’s gonna plug it up this evening or tomorrow. My plug is evidently the old style DDEC2. The newer one is round. Guy said it could be as simple as a fuel temp, boost, ………. sensor.

Exactly. Abnormal sensor data or nonworking sensors will be pretty obvious once he looks st it. I'd hate to see you pay a bunch of money for nothing or lose the ECM altogether. Let us know what it was when you figure it out.
