    This is what I understand

"I'm going to begin my verbal air brake test
First, I'm going to turn the truck on, and let the air stabilize
Next, I'm going to turn the truck off and hold my service brakes, I should not lose more than 3 psi in one minute"

That's all I've got, and I think even that's wrong

It doesn't matter what state, it's standard across the country. There is no such thing as a verbal test. The same procedure is in every CDL manual. It boils down to the examiner. Some do it so much they let you talk your way through the pti. But you better know it well enough to demonstrate.

After you done your walk around and pointed out checking the slack adjuster, hoses, drums and brake linings.

When you first get in the truck most likely the air pressure is already built up.

Key on engine off test the safe guards. Release the brake buttons, bleed the pressure down by pumping the pedal. The alarm should come on by 60 psi. Continue pumping, the buttons should pop out by 20 psi.

Build your pressure back up. It should raise from 85 to 100 psi in 45 seconds.

Brake bleed down test... After the governor cut out around 125 psi shut the truck off, wheels chocked, buttons in, air pressure shouldn't drop less than 3 psi in 1 minute. Then put your foot on the pedal with at least 90 psi pressure and hold it. Again pressure shouldn't drop more than 4 psi in 1 minute.

Just remember straight truck 2 psi/3psi... combination vehicle 3 psi no foot/4 psi with foot on, in one minute.

Then comes your tug tests, apply the parking brake and in low gear pull on the trailer to check if they hold.

Then test your service brakes by moving forward 5 mph and apply the brakes. Notice any pulling, unusual feel or delayed stopping.

    To sum it up...

Include in the walk around checking the brake system
Test your alarm, audible and light
Test your low air, buttons pop out
Test your air pressure build up rate
Test air leakage rate (bleed down test)
Test governor cut in and cut out
    Test parking brake
    Test service brake

There is no set order just as long as you cover you know it. Just do it in a manner you aren't sitting there waiting on the air pressure to build more than necessary.
