I just bought a 800hp marine cam not sure if its the same part number as yours or not but its a 10R-7155 and it came to 2260 CDN dollars with tax. Just got it last week, DDS told me to just give them the reman number because most the time they don't have any reman ones so they just give you a brand new one
So with the way the CDN to US exchange is right now I'd say thats a little too muchC16KIWI Thanks this. -
$4950nzd = $3400 Canadian They can get me a reman for $2600 nzd but I haven't got one to exchange so its much the same as a new one.
CAT in New Zealand get a lot of there parts out of Melbourne,Australia and wont charge me freight but if I get it out of the USA I could be up for $1000us for freight either way it looks like its going to cost more than I thought. -
I called it in to the CAT dealer in Toronto. The new camshaft is $2437 canadian, the reman is $1350 with a $887 core for a total $2237. These are full dealer list price.

How much will that cam give you? I've 420k orig. miles on mine now, is it due for a cam too do you think?
-
As for how many miles will you get out of a camshaft I would say well over a million miles IMO but every engine is different.
I am doing it for the longer valve duration to help the engine breathe better with the mods Ive done, but the side effect will be more HP. -
Yeah I've been alot about buildups on here. From what I've learned before there isn't alot of HP gain to be had by a cam swap in boosted applications. is there a substantial difference in lift & duration? Any piston to valve issues?
-
BTW if your order a reman you can usually give your old cam as a core even though its not the same part number. -
Also, the 2012677 is a C18 marine cam not a 3406E cam.
-
That is a bit strange the parts guy didn't pick up on it as I gave him a 3406E engine number to start with, but he did ask if I had the right part number because they haven't sold one of those cams in New Zealand.
I will update in 36 hours.
