Some friend of mine want port work. I am currently the only driver that does this. We all rent an apt together, drive trucks, pretty good friends, good driving records, similar work ethic, etc.

Can anyone speak on how they registered their authority with Maersk, other container companies? How they get loads from the port? Many want to give a 75/25 split but my friends and I prefer more. Plus transparency, scheduling, insurance, etc. We have hazmat, other endorsements. Just learning to work with the poet, manage an authority, regulations, insurance, etc would be very worthwhile experience.

And we are each buying trucks as the market comes down. We are set on gliders, even with their outrageous costs. The horror stores we see everyday and on this board is down right nauseating.

Any insight is appreciated on the ports.

    Best place to start is:
    • Have your own Authority
    • Have your own insurance
    • Have Trailer Interchange Agreements
    • Find Freight Forwarders and Agents for customers
