It's predictable that this question would come up this time of year but does anybody know of any companies that do strictly Southern California to say AZ, NM, and Texas? Decided I would prefer a run like that after getting sent to the mountains of BC then having to go down to Wyoming last week. Lucky I didn't hit any bad weather at all except for some strong winds and some icy spots in WY but I was heavy.

One company I know of that might be just what you're looking for is TTSI ( http://www.tts-i.com ). I'm not sure, but I think HVH transportation runs similar lanes.

A&I out of Watsonville comes to mind, white volvos. I see them all the time passing through Phoenix.

Socal to Texas is a gravy run and it won't pay much. How many yrs experience do you have or are you a rookie?

Nobody likes winter driving but don't let it get to your nerves. Slow and steady wins the race and shut it down when you feel unsafe

About 1 year 4 months. I've driven through some good ones. Eisenhower and Vail chained up. A ground blizzard in Iowa. Hwy 54 through TX and OK after an ice/snowstorm (should have stayed put in Walmart parking lot that time. Passed 3 rollovers). I'd prefer to stay away from it if possible.

I don't know if it's entirely possible to stay away from winter weather if you drive OTR even in the southwest. I run FL to AZ and sometimes CA at least twice a month, and winter tends to rear its ugly head once you hit parts of TX, NM and AZ. The problem is that we have this thing in the west called the Continental Divide and, while it's not all Donner and Cabbage, you can still get into some higher than usual elevations in New Mexico and Arizona, as well as all the winter crap that comes with being at those elevations. I guess they don't call that area the "high desert" for nothing. I'm not a fan of winter driving, either (ever see I-90 in Ohio during a lake effect snowstorm? No, you probably haven't - because you can't see the roadway in the first place, LOL!) But I figured if I can't avoid it then I may as well learn to deal with it.

But I hear you load and clear; it still sucks to be in that mess.

What about a local gig, if not check Los Angeles craigslist, you'll find something there
