    Hello,

So I am ready to roll (kinda), but I'm waiting for this MCP from the DMV to be "active" it is currently "pending". As you may or may not know the "CA" number (like a KYU#) is linked to the MCP file at the DMV.

My thought (a crazy one, but I gotta get rollin') is to bobtail from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to start working while the Calif. DMV gets is but in gear. I do have a legal route that has no scales on the way Palmdale to Vegas.

My logic behind this is the CA number and MCP only apply to California, right? If I'm out of state I'm good to go. Unless other states check my MCP or CA number, which I feel is unlikely since it only applies to CA. That would be like Texas checking my KYU number.

Has anyone had any negative experiences where other states hold you back or fine you for things like this?

I talked to the California Highway Patrol over the phone about it and they say I do run a risk of being cited (inside California) even if not under a load.

Otherwise, I would be sitting for another 3 weeks until the DMV gets to updating my MCP.

    Thanks in advance

Do you have a federal motor carrier # MC ?
Do you have federal DOT #?

I ran California A LOT with just those 2 numbers before I picked up my CA #
I would not sweat it. If you get checked just tell them its in process and your waiting on it.

I do have a MC and DOT both active for hire/property. I just want to be 100% legal before I roll out, I am getting ready to leave tonight..of course I will be calling the DMV before I plan on coming back to California.

Got a Dot and MC you say? Your good to go in all the other states, except New Mexico, and Kentucky, as you still need a to pay Kentucky and New Mexico their HUT Tax on top of IFTA. So get those and no state other than California will bother you as far as i know. Now if your MCP is connected with your registration that might screw things up.
