New driver with hazmat, doubles and tank. Can I get a local job where I am home nightly? I'm in Los Angeles but will be open to surrounding areas. Thank you.

I don't know, can you?
Seriously you can.
Just start calling/looking at local companies.TX2Day Thanks this. -
Oak Harbor Freight Lines has a terminals in Montebello and Fontana. They have a Dock-to-Driver program so you would have to work the docks until you get trained to drive. Not sure if they will hire to only drive right away. They're a West Coast LTL company that pulls doubles so it would be linehaul or local work.

Try Fed Ex Freight, XPO, Old Dominion, Saia, or Estes. These will all be home daily jobs, but you may have to work nights M-F or spend some time on the dock until you build some seniority. @Chinatown may pop in and tell you of some other local driving jobs.

Sure, anybody can....given the right conditions, right timing, and sometimes even the right amount of luck. The question is more along the lines of whether you'll be able to. It's not impossible, but you're in competition with a lot of experienced CDL-A holders that want a similar job. That will be your biggest albatross.
