Had an 09' Prostar with a C15. Never had to put oil in it, but I think they can hold 4-5 gallons? Find out if your truck is one of the ones that returns used oil to the tank. Like mine was. Man I miss that truck...

Most likely it hold 11 gal. Some maybe 7.5 with a little sump. But most are around 10-11

My 3406e (which should have same oil capacity as c15) takes 10 gal.

Thanks everyone. I guess I should have given the reason for asking this. I just bought this truck. On the dip stick there are no markings only a notch. Where it stands now, I don't if it is full or low. So I figured when I change the oil I could calibrate the stick. Thanks for all the input.

Depends on what kind of oil pan you have. Most likely 10 or 11 gallons.

It is a 6NZ C-15 and requires 10 gallons of oil to fill to capacity with a filter change. The low side of the calibration of the stick will be 1.5 gallons below the full mark.

    Dip stick calibration procedure:

Drain all the oil from engine. Including the the front section of the oil pan. install 8 gallons of oil in the pan. At this point. Mark the "add oil" mark on the dip stick. Now. Install one more gallon in the pan. Mark the "full line" on the dip stick. Install one more gallon. ( This is for the oil filter ). Install oil filter dry. ( The engine oil pump puts out so much volume, the engine will not be harmed for this calibration procedure). That will add up to 10 gallons. This is for a standard oil pan on a 3406. Hope this helps.
