Have a 2004 Cat C15, had a no start condition yesterday. Code 46 was stored in the diagnostics. Check the cam speed sensor wiring by unplugging and reconnecting. Re-primed the fuel system. This is the 4th time this has happened in the last year. Seems random, we play with things for awhile and then it starts and runs fine for months.

Any help with the #46 code would be great!

We had just changed the oil prior to the no start, so that was probably the cause of the code.
I'm gonna order a cam sensor for it. I checked all the voltages to the to the ECM and they are all good.
Not sure what else to do except run it.

sometimes the insulation on the side of the block breaks and falls onto the wiring for the crank sensor and wears through the wires
but there should be a code for no primary speed signal
.......somthing to check anyway.... you might be able to get away with just fixing a couple wires and getting rid of the insulation around that sensor
