I have a c15 mxs acert. It was rebuilt by cat 4 1/2 years ago. With my warranty being finished I want to out a marine cam and marine injectors in it. I would also like to keep my twin turbos and delete my IVA's. Also it is a 625 HP acert. And that is all stock from caterpillar. Can this be done and any recommendations on the cam and injectors. I was thinking the 800 hp? #59 injectors?

Unless you plan on replacing the pistons to lower the compression ratio, deleting the IVAs would not be a good idea.

Copy that! That's what I was wondering. I have been reading through a lot of stuff and some people were saying that by changing the cam you could delete the IVA's safely. I also forgot to say thank you for any help on this in my 1st post!

The 625 acert has 17:1 compression where the lower hp had 18:1. Correct? Or am I thinking of something else.
How much HP are you wanting to make?Last edited: Dec 28, 2021

If it were mine, I’d set it at 700hp and leave the cam and injectors alone. This can be done safely with more life expectancy out of your engine than it would have if you left it the way it is now!…….unless you’re pulling 100,000 pounds up 8% grades, your 17:1 pistons aren’t even an issue. What makes these engines so wonderful with tuning is correct injection timing. It adds longevity, fuel efficiency and horsepower…..without adding fuel.

Thank you guys for all the information. I have been having issues with stock caterpillar injectors and can't seem to find one anywhere now when I need one. So was hoping to solve that problem and also it's time for a new cam. The old one is worn out. So figured this would be the time to do everything. Thanks again.
