I'm on the market to add a car carrier to the company but unfortunately most of the 2005-2007 Peterbilts come with the CAT C15 ACERT motor. I've been trying to get a 6nz CAT truck but usually the trailer that comes with it that truck is really old and nobody wants to sell the truck alone.
I've heard so many bad things about the C15 ACERT problems here in the forum, so my question is should I avoid this motor at all costs? Should I get it and convert it to a single turbo? What's the main concern with the ACERT?
Thanks
C15 ACERT. Get it or not?

I wouldn't be afraid of an acert. If tuned properly they can run real strong. Some issues were broken rocker studs on earlier models but most of them should have updated studs by now. Injector and Iva harness's were known to fail with mileage and age. Other then that pretty reliable engine imo.

I've owned two Acerts, wouldn't hesitate one second to own a 3rd.

Good engines if setup correctly. DONT get the sdp serial # acert. To troublesome.

They're fine. Can be hard on fuel if not geared right. Easier and cheaper to get it reflashed and go down the road. Wouldn't even consider advising someone to go to a single turbo on them.
