Is there anyone that has recently gone to C1 Training in Fort Worth, TX? People i said FORT WORTH, TX, not some other city or state, lol I am going to try to get a grant, pell grant, any type of grant to get into this school. I qualify for TAA with American Airlines due to closing the base i worked at and now laid off again for the 3rd time. But i cant wait on the TAA due to the fact AA attorney is not in any rush to release the names to TX that qualify for it. I have already taken all written tests along with my Tanker and Doubles/Triples endorsements, Studying on my Hazmat now. Jan.14th i have to go to Hurst, TX for my CDL Road test. Having all this done will it help me get through C1 faster, seeing i will already have a CDL-A? Also are the trainers here good? Do they have patience's to actually train the student in the truck? What did it cost you? I will be calling them tomorrow to get info but i want to see what you all have to say.

Why are you paying for a truck to take the test in? I doubt it will help you get thru faster. I drove past the C1 mudlot on US 377near Benbrook every day for 5 weeks last summer while taking a class (not trucking), also saw a C1 truck here in Cleburne, Tx 2 weeks ago ( about 40 miles from the C1 lot) with I think 3 students who were going to take their driving test.
All I really know is that on Mondays there were quite a few cars and students at the C1 lot ( at 6:30am) and by Friday there were usually a lot fewer.
You do need to call them.
    good luck

Well I wanted to do everything on my own, but seeing no one will hire me unless I went through there "training" and be stuck with a contract and or paying them back. Some places I will be on contract for a year and some places like Stevens Transport is $4200 and you pay them $26.84 a week for 3 years to pay them back. I rather get a loan to pay on and not be stuck with a company that ends up not so good. The truck I am renting only cost me $250 compared to $400-$500 else where. He went over the whole air brake check and backing and parking everything the DPS will do with me. Money already spent so got to do it now.

Sounds like you already have all you need to get into the school. It is the schools job to provide the vehicle and get you the experience to pass the road test. If you already have a cdl, you may not qualify for any grants because you will already have, in your possesion, the license, which the school is supposed to be teaching you for! I paid 2800 for my CDL school at a school in Dallas.

I still need the training with a manual plus no one will hire me without training or experience even if I have my CDL. So I don't see why I can't get a grant.

I have had students that have come from there. They are no worse or better than my students from other places. Just remember, all they reach you is enough to get you your CDl, then kick you over to a training company to do the rest.

Who will kick me over to a company to do the rest? I will already have my CDL before I go with C1 or anyone else.

This thread is getting kind of confusing. First, from my experience, C-1 is basically a three week mill that results in a person getting their CDL-A. They will receive some limited road experience, but a lot more range experience. A great deal of the graduates go to either USA Truck, or PAM. C-1 is the preferred trainer for those two carriers. If you already have a CDL-A, I think you might be wasting your time with C-1, because they are not a refresher deal. Usually if you have your CDL-A, you start to apply straight to the carriers. If accepted by one, then usually orientation, and most likely a training truck situation. Good luck.

I have called a few places, Stevens I will have a 3 year contract with them and paying $26.84 a week for 3 years and only starting off solo at .26¢ a mile. CSRT will train me with a 8 month contract but they told me its teams only, I want solo. Does anyone have any recommended companies to train with? I have done so much research and they ALL have the pros and cons. I would prefer someone I won't have to pay them back and be no more than a 1 year contract.

OK, maybe we are getting closer. I would think that the companies that you have contacted and are talking about "contracts" means that they are expecting you to go to their preferred school(s) and then to their trainer trucks. What you will be for them is basically one of the better students in their classes because you have already done some of the training. In other words, you may have wasted your money up to this point.
