C & A Express Transport LLC - Tucson, AZ

Wanted to post up a thread here about C & A Express mainly about the owner Aaron.

I applied here April 26th 2022. Found Aaron's ad on craigslist looking for a local driver with drop and hook amazon loads paying by the load.

He has a few different loads like:
Tucson to Phoenix and back $200 each
Tucson to El Paso and back $500 each
Tucson to Las Vegas and back $700 each
Tucson to LA and back

Sounded great so I tried calling him. Left a voicemail and heard back from him.
He asked if I could send my DL and medical card so I sent them.

I messaged him a day later on April 27th checking on if the insurance got back to him. He said at about 11:02 AM they should get back within the next hour. Messaged him again at 4:25PM with no response.

Messaged him again the next day and he explained he was driving overnight so he couldn't get back to me. So I told him no problem and asked what the next steps were.

Next day on the 29th I asked if he was still interested. Tried calling and texting him no response all day until 9:25pm with him telling me hes sorry he was out of town and he would get back with me tomorrow.

April 30th he sends me a text asking for my email so you he can send me the job application. No response.

May 1st I send him multiple texts no response.

May 2nd he responds at 11:30am saying things have been slow and he hopes thats not an issue. I explain thats okay and I can work with that as I needed a local job. He signs me up with the Amazon Relay app and sends me the job application. I finished it and sent it back to him about an hour later.

May 3rd I ask if everything is okay at 6:43PM and get a response back at 10:30PM with a location for the drug testing.

May 4th I head out for the drug test and he paid over the phone $80. He told me he wants to meet in 2 hours to give me the keys to a truck since hes heading to Phoenix the next day and wont be around. I told him no problem. He also sets up my username for Samsara ELD. We dont end up meeting up this day.

May 6th he contacts me saying hes on his way back to tucson and wants to meetup at about 10PM I told him I had no problem with this. He even asks if I want to work on the weekend I told him if he can get a load for Saturday I can do that. I tried calling him he didnt answer and said he will call me right back. 2 hours later around 10PM he said it was a busy day and he will call me tomorrow.

For the next 4 DAYS he completely ignores me. I hear nothing from him.

May 11th he messages me at 4:00PM telling me he was driving back and forth from El Paso and Tucson and couldnt talk on the phone because he was too busy.

Heres where it gets interesting. I found his personal cell phone number online and called it with a blocked number. He answered the phone right away and I could hear a car door chime like he was getting in or out of a car. He doesnt know I called him.

I had another buddy try to call him with the number on his craigslist ad and he never returned his call or text asking for a job.

At this point im not interested at all anymore. Aaron wasted so much of my time and I was an idiot for even waiting this long. I figured why bother working for someone who I will never be able to get a hold of. I sent him a text back saying "I dont know what to think anymore" and he basically comes back with hes looking for self sufficient drivers.

What? How can I be self sufficient if im not even fully hired?

No clearing house, no 1099 form filled out, no direct deposit or how am I being paid conversations, never met the guy.

I still cant figure out what happened here. I mean he even paid $80 for a drug test just to bail out. Then randomly messages me if im available to take a load and the keys are in the trucks. I dont even know where the yard is. I also dont work for free.

This was definitely an odd situation.

As I was applying for another local job I was telling the other company about what happened and told him about C & A and they asked if Ive seen their trucks because apparently some of their trucks are "okay" and some are "pretty crappy" according to this guy. I cant even say at all never had the opportunity to look at the trucks or even meet Aaron.

I have no idea if the trucks are good or not. I dont even know if its a good job but Im posted this so others can see it might not be worth working for an owner that has no passion for his company or interest in "future" drivers.

Take a look at the screenshots I posted of Aarons responses. I would have posted all the screenshots but theres just a whole bunch of messages with no responses.

Im almost certain Aaron will find this post and comment some sob story.

Cell Phone number I found online: 520-233-8546 (Not on FMCSA)
If you see one of these numbers then you found Aaron.

What are your thoughts guys? Have any of you worked here?

You know honestly Im still a little worried about that. I haven't had anything happen on my credit reports so im hoping its okay but your right this guy has my license and even my SSN that was on the application. Then again I still cant figure out why he would pay $80 for a drug test.
