Putting the head back on a C-15 and getting ready to put timing gear back in the front cover. I put the sealing cover plate in and then the adapter then the thrust washer. When I tighten the thrust washer down it locks the camshaft up and I can't turn it by hand. I even put a couple of the camshaft gear bolts in and tried to turn it with a bar and it would not budge. Any thoughts.

The adapter that fits the front that has the dowel pin in it, I think you have on backwards.

Sure there isn't something between the back cover and cam not letting it slide all the way back?

    SAR Thanks this.

You talking about the plate on rear of head? I tried that as well. I loosen the plate on the rear. The camshaft slides back and forth until you tighten those three small bolts on the thrust plate. Then it locks it down. If you back off of them just a half a turn it goes free.
There is nothing extra between the front cover and head.

Ok, let's go step by step. Cam installed in head then the o-ring plate then the spacer adapter then the lock thrust plate, right?

    SAR Thanks this.

Another thing to check, the o-ring that fits on the back of spacer plate that seals to the head ,check to see if it may have dropped out of its grove and got pinched. That will #### the o-ring spacer and jam it.

    SAR Thanks this.

The previous crew that worked on this head had a ton of silicone everywhere. Everything on cam sealing plate was smothered in it as well as the rear cover.
We messed around with this camshaft sealing plate/thrust plate for several days on and off. Today we finally put a shim between the thrust plate and the adapter. Cam moves freely and there is not any movement of cam shaft after bolts are tighten down.
